Environmental Health Home Assessment

This assessment helped me take a closer look at several environmental risks that are currently present in my building which I never really thought of before. For starters, my building was built in 1923, which means that lead may still be present in certain areas of my home. The lobby and entrance to our building were recently renovated a few months ago however I'm not sure when or if the actual apartments have ever been renovated.

One of the things I'm mostly worried about is the secondhand smoke from neighboring apartments. Although it states on my lease that the building is smoke-free, there are a few select apartments who have permission to smoke indoors. Sometimes when I have my windows open I can smell the smoke coming from those apartments.

Each floor of my building is equipped with a fire extinguisher and every apartment has access to a fire escape from inside their own individual unit. In case of an emergency, this is really important.

One thing I can do to improve the conditions in my own apartment is to limit the use of candles and incense, which I currently use a lot.
